I have been sitting here with an adult beverage watching the RV's pull into the campground for the Labor Day Weekend. This will be the last big camping weekend for those people in the Northern climes. Campgrounds in the SnowBelt will shut down around the 1st of November and those of us who are full timers will be back in Florida, Texas, New Mexico or Arizona.
LaundryLady's friend TINK and her hubby are coming to visit and we will hit all the high spots. Shippshewana and Middlebury being the best. Nothing like Amish made sausage and cheese. Gonna enjoy the company and the food as both will be quickly gone. Working folks don't have a lot of time to spend with us retirees.
Last week we went to Fair Oaks Dairy Adventure. This is located in Fair Oaks, Indiana. Quite an operation. Hubby saw a program on television and decided he needed a closer look. Thank God for curiosity, life would be so boring.
Here the cows line up and get on a carousel to be milked and get off when the job is done. It was fascinating to watch and I did get a couple of pictures .
We finished off with a trip to the birthing barn and watched some calves being born. This place is so huge that they bring the heifers in all day long and they leave as full fledged cows while you sit in comfort and watch.
The whole experience includes a 3D movie, a hands on exhibit, a gift shop. an outdoor activity area, the birthing barn, a gift shop and the ability to watch them making cheese and packaging ice cream.
The closest place to stay is Rensselaer,Indiana. You can choose either the Holiday Express or the Knights Inn. A word of warning! These folks run on Illinois time including the motels. You may get a surprise( as we did) if you assume that its Eastern Time.
