Today was a very good day for just wandering around. We took a trip up the road to the North Carolina Arboretum and enjoyed just walking through the gardens and looking at the end of summer plants.
One of the more interesting portions was the quilt garden. From ground level it looks just like some very neat and precise raised beds. From a parapet above you can see it looks just like an old fashioned quilt. The plants they were using were mustard and ornamental hot peppers and what i call mondo grass . One of the plants we came across is a type of grassy plant called muhly Is very soft and feels like spider webs and stands almost 5 feet tall. It's really gorgeous against the dark green of the shrubbery.
I love finding unique things while we walk the paths through the woods. These guys look like children sheltering around their mother.
